Toxicology report came out on Heath Ledger. According to CNN’s sources, Heath died of an accidental drug overdose. He took the prescribed amount of Percocet, Vicodin, Valium, Restoril, Xanax, and doxylamine (another sleep aid, one of the primary ingredients of NyQuil).
“Last week I probably slept an average of two hours a night,” Ledger told The New York Times in November. “I couldn’t stop thinking. My body was exhausted, and my mind was still going.”
Some people are still saying it was a successful suicide attempt. But based on Heath’s statements, it really seems like the poor guy just wanted to sleep. That’s it, just get some actual sleep. Not, like, eternal sleep. Just sleep. For people who haven’t suffered the effects of chronic insomnia, or bouts of acute insomnia, I think they underestimate the human need for sleep.
