Utah Photos

Nathan is a big dork. But I love him anyway.

Utah was fantastic. DRY HEAT. MOUNTAINS. FLAT. No trees! O_o That wasn’t so fantastic, but definitely quite a change. Wednesday we dropped stuff at Nathan’s house, I met his very cool family of mom, dad, younger sister, younger brother. His sister is a lot like my younger sister. It’s creepy. o_O

After that we took off for temple square. Was quite cool and got some good photos. We went up to the top of the Joseph Smith memorial building and got shots of the temple from above, as well as downtown Salt Lake. The streets are SO WIDE there.

Then my camera lens broke. Stupid lens. Begin the trip EVERYWHERE to get a new stupid Canon EF 28-80 lens. FINALLY, we find one as best buy, but I have to purchase a whole stupid frigging body as well, or pay tons for another bigger lens. *mutter* But it means I can sell my two old minolta bodies and lenses and switch to just Canon. *shrug*

Anyrate. We’re heading back to Nathan’s house and he takes my hand as we drive up something-15. This is normal. It’s nice to know that he’s THERE, physically, and I tend to do the same thing. He kisses my hand, looks over at me (I’m thinking, I love you, but get your eyes back on the damn road) and instead, he asks me to marry him.

My reply? “Yes. But YOU JUST PROPOSED TO ME IN A CAR!”

Him. “I couldn’t wait! I couldn’t! I was going to at the canyon but I couldn’t wait!”

Then we’re both cracking up. We do that a lot. He says “Okay, that didnt REALLY happen. I’ll propose at the CANYON. At SUNSET. And that will be the REAL STORY.”

Sure. Somehow, I find that proposal cute and romantic, too.

We eat dinner at his house, talk with his mom and sister. Take off for the canyon park. The view is amazing. Nathan climbs the fence to get fence-less shots, I take other shots. He comes over, hugs me, keeps me in his arms.

He said like 500 loving things that actually brought tears to my eyes. Then he proposed again, and used the ring, and I said yes, and punched him in the chest.

Then we sat and eventually laid looking up at the sky and chatted forever, until bugs had bitten my legs and our butts were itchy from the grass. We walked off, still amazed that it’s so sure, that we’re engaged, that we’ll be married and get to be with each other forever.

Cool.

We hit up the store and I have thorns in my butt from whatever grass we sat on. Nathan offers to remove them. I glare and do it myself, to his disappointment. We pick up snacks and go back to his house, contenting ourselves to hot tubbing, watching the x-files, and chatting the night away.
